Oncopeptides then and now

Jakob Lindberg has followed and led major parts of Oncopeptides’ journey – as CEO when he joined in 2011, later as Chief Science Officer, and today as a scientific advisor.

It is a journey that began in a small, unmanned room at the Karolinska Institute with a promising discovery on how to improve a class of chemotherapy called alkylating agents. This path took him through one of the most extraordinary episodes in Swedish biotech history: the withdrawal of the company’s drug from the US market and a simultaneous European approval – based on the exact same data.

What has he learned along the way? How does he view Oncopeptides’ position today, in the midst of a rapidly changing myeloma landscape? And what will it take for the company to succeed moving forward – not least with its new brain tumor program?
